At Muhammad's Pharmacy, our pharmacist can supply prescription-only medicines where clinically indicated under an NHS clinical protocol. The consultation is free, and any prescribed medication carries no charge for eligible patients.
This service is available to anyone in England with one of the seven NHS Pharmacy First conditions.
We use a validated clinical scoring tool to assess your throat. If the result shows a bacterial infection, our pharmacist can provide antibiotics right away during your visit.
We examine the ear and treat acute otitis media in children aged 1 to 17. A prescription for antibiotics is given when the clinical assessment shows it's needed.
We check your facial pain, congestion, and nasal symptoms. This helps us decide if you need antibiotics for sinusitis or if self-care is better.
We look for signs of infection near the bite. If it fits the NHS Pharmacy First criteria, we can prescribe antibiotic cream or oral tablets.
We recognise the crusting and skin changes linked to impetigo. Then, we prescribe topical or oral antibiotics based on how widespread the infection is.
We assess the rash and pain pattern consistent with shingles. If antiviral treatment is needed and starts early, our pharmacist can write a prescription directly.
We assess your symptoms using the NHS UTI pathway. If it's a simple urinary tract infection, the pharmacist can give antibiotics without needing a urine sample.
Our pharmacist will ask about your symptoms, when they began, and what treatments you’ve tried. This tells us whether your condition qualifies through the NHS Pharmacy First service.
Once the assessment is complete, treatment follows the relevant NHS clinical pathway. If a prescription is needed, it is issued immediately under the NHS Pharmacy First service minor ailments protocol.
Most consultations take around ten minutes from start to finish.

Yes. You can use the service at any participating pharmacy in England, regardless of where your GP is registered. You do not need to be registered locally.
Yes. As part of the NHS service, your GP will receive a notification that you were treated. This keeps your medical record accurate and joined up.
If your symptoms fall outside what Pharmacy First covers, our pharmacist will advise you on the next step. This may include referral to your GP, urgent care, or NHS 111 depending on how serious your symptoms are.
Most conditions can be treated in adults. Earache and infected insect bites can be treated in children aged 1 and over. UTIs under Pharmacy First apply to women aged 16 to 64 specifically.
There is no fixed limit, but if you are presenting repeatedly with the same condition, our pharmacist may recommend you see your GP to rule out an underlying cause.
